When is a student of knowledge qualified for self-study in the Sharia sciences without the need for a teacher?

It is preferable for a student of knowledge to be keen on benefiting from scholars to correct pronunciations and clarify meanings. There is no specific stage that makes one independent of them. The scholars of the predecessors were keen to meet with scholars to further their knowledge and etiquette. Likewise, a beginner who is able to read can benefit from books of Tafsir (definition) (exegesis), Hadith (definition), and Fiqh (jurisprudence) that are appropriate for their level, while still needing to consult scholars on obscurities. Even one who has acquired a great deal of knowledge may need someone to resolve some difficulties for them and help them reconcile conflicting evidence.
