Is wearing shorts above the knee to play football considered unlawful (haram) because it reveals the awrah (private parts)?

If the aforementioned garment reveals what is above the knee, then it is not permissible to wear it; because the thigh of a man is awrah (private parts) according to the correct opinion, and it is not permissible to look at it. As for the knee, it is not awrah.
