Is it permissible to send a message to a mosque imam who recites specific verses in every prayer, does not master proper recitation, and whose sermons lack eloquence, urging him to strive harder in memorization and seeking knowledge?

The matter of Imamate and delivering sermons is of great importance, and it should be undertaken by those who are qualified for it. The Sunnah (definition) gives precedence to the one most deserving of leading the prayer: first, the one who is best at reciting the Book of Allah; then, the one who is most knowledgeable of the Sunnah; then, the one who emigrated earliest; then, the oldest in age. Although an Imam repeating the same surahs is permissible, it is better to prioritize the one who recites best and memorizes most, especially if the repetition is due to a lack of memorization. Observing the rules of Tajweed (definition) in recitation is a religious requirement, and if the Imam fails to do so, his prayer may become invalid. The Friday sermon should be delivered by someone competent to achieve admonition and remembrance. If the intended purpose is not achieved, the Imam should be replaced by someone else who excels in delivering sermons. If the Imam refuses this or is not qualified, the matter should be referred to the Ministry of Endowments.
