Do the implications and conditions of Istikhara differ from those of a vision?

Seeking Allah's guidance (Istikhara) is asking Allah for what is good and entrusting affairs to Him. Its sign is the facilitation of the matter if one proceeds with it. Some scholars have mentioned that one proceeds with what his heart is inclined towards. It is not necessary for the one performing Istikhara to see a dream or for his heart to feel at ease after Istikhara. Sincere Istikhara is accompanied by divine success because it is a supplication, and Allah has guaranteed to answer it. Dreams are of different types: satanic delusions, self-talk, and true visions, which are a part of prophecy. Relying on Istikhara is legislated, unlike dreams, which are prone to error. The wise person should be keen on performing Istikhara because it is a means of achieving success, and he should rejoice in good dreams and not inform anyone about them except those he loves, and he should seek refuge from bad dreams and not tell anyone about them.
