Why is reciting a specific Surah with the intention of achieving a certain matter or healing considered an innovation (bid‘ah), and how can a Muslim achieve their desired outcome?

The practice of seeking healing and performing ruqya (exorcism) with specific surahs of the Quran is a matter of scholarly disagreement among ulama. However, reciting a specific surah (definition) to achieve a dream or a wish has no basis in Islamic law. Generally, reciting the Quran is a means for supplications to be answered and is among the acts of obedience through which one seeks Allah’s help in fulfilling needs. Relying on Allah and truly trusting in Him remain among the legitimate means for achieving one’s goals.
