Why was the Kaaba built among mountains instead of a more spacious place that could accommodate larger numbers of pilgrims?

Allah Almighty chose the location of His House and appointed it for Abraham, peace be upon him. A Muslim must submit to Allah’s command and choice and not object to it, for Mecca is Allah’s sacred precinct, chosen by Him for a wisdom He knows, whether we comprehend it or remain ignorant of it. Scholars have mentioned its unique characteristics not found elsewhere.
