The answer

Whoever is unable to fast due to old age or a chronic illness must feed one poor person for each day. Scholars differed on the amount of expiation () for each day. The Maliki and Shafi'i schools of thought held that it is one mudd, which is closer to correctness. Whereas the Hanafi school of thought held that it is one sa' (except for wheat, for which it is half a sa'), and the Hanbali school of thought held that it is half a sa' (except for wheat, for which it is one mudd). According to the majority of scholars, the required amount for thirty days is 7.5 asa', which is approximately 22.5 kilograms (considering a sa' to be 3 kilograms). It should be noted that the feeding must be from what people commonly consume, such as wheat, barley, and dates, and not oil.
