Repentance from watching forbidden anime is immediately obligatory and is not conditioned on leading to masturbation for its prohibition. Repentance from minor sins is obligatory according to the general consensus of scholars, and persistence in a minor sin may turn it into a major one. Repentance is not achieved merely by abandoning the sin; rather, one must regret what has passed and have a sincere resolve not to return to it.
