The question

Is it permissible to combine the Asr prayer with the Dhuhr prayer, an early combination, or to make up the Asr prayer directly before Maghrib, if the time of arrival home extends beyond Maghrib prayer and sometimes Isha due to the long distance and public transportation?

The answer

If the distance between one's place of residence and workplace is the distance that allows for qasr (shortening prayers) (83 kilometers or more), then it is permissible for a woman to combine Asr with Dhuhr, performing them as jam‘ taqdeem (combining early) and qasr, because she is considered to be in the ruling of a traveler. However, if the distance is less than that, she is not permitted to shorten the prayers. Nonetheless, some scholars lean towards the permissibility of combining prayers when there is a need, as a facilitation. In the event that the Asr prayer is missed, it should be prayed before Maghrib to observe the proper sequence, unless the time for Maghrib is running out and there is a fear of missing it, in which case the present prayer (Maghrib) should be prayed first.
