What are the names of Hell?

The fire of Hell has multiple names, such as: Al-Jaheem (Blazing Fire), Jahannam (definition) (Hell), Ladha (Flaming Fire), As-Sa'eer (Blaze), Saqar (Scorching Fire), Al-Hutamah (Crusher), and Al-Hawiyah (Abyss). These names indicate the diversity of its characteristics, and a believer is required to affirm everything that has been mentioned about them in the Qur'an and Sunnah (definition). It was named "Al-Jaheem" due to the intensity of its fire, and "Jahannam" due to the depth of its bottom, and "Ladha" due to its intense blazing, and "As-Sa'eer" because it is kindled and rages, and "Saqar" due to its extreme heat, and "Al-Hutamah" because it crushes whatever is thrown into it, and "Al-Hawiyah" because whoever is cast into it falls from a height to a low depth. The correct view is that these names refer to the fire as a whole and not to its various levels, and the categorization of people into these levels has not been authentically established.
