The answer

There is no harm in one of the deceased's relatives washing them. It is stipulated that males should be washed by males or by their wives, and females should be washed by females or by their husbands. The closest relatives to wash the deceased are their executor, then their father, then their grandfather, then the closest maleagnates in descending order, then their uterine relatives. The closest women to wash a female are her executor, then the closest of her female relatives in descending order. It is permissible for either spouse to wash the other.
