What is the Qur'an?

The Holy Qur'an is the word of Allah, revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) to lead humanity out of darkness into light. In it, Allah clarifies the histories of the ancients and the latter generations, the rulings of what is lawful and unlawful, the foundations of ethics, the regulations of worship and transactions, the biographies of the prophets, the recompense of believers and disbelievers, and the descriptions of Paradise and Hell. He made it a clear explanation for everything.

The Qur'an calls for belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day. It describes the conditions of the Day of Resurrection and what comes after death, such as resurrection and accountability. It also encourages reflection on both cosmic and Qur'anic signs.

It is Allah's book for all mankind, confirming the scriptures that preceded it and superseding them. After its revelation, it became the book for humanity until the Day of Judgment, and whoever does not believe in it is a disbeliever.

Due to the Qur'an's greatness, its verses, miracles, and Allah's challenge to jinn and humans to produce anything like it—a challenge they could not meet—and because it is the greatest, most complete, perfect, and final of the heavenly books, Allah commanded His Messenger to convey it and guaranteed its preservation.
