The answer

The person afflicted with waswas (obsessive whispering/doubts) should turn away from their waswas and occupy their time with learning, da'wah (calling to Islam), and righteous deeds. They should treat themselves with supplication (du'a), remembrance of Allah (dhikr), seeking refuge in Allah, and stopping (the thoughts), or by saying: "I believe in Allah and His Messengers." They should also remember that the religion is ease. If the waswas is during prayer, they should seek refuge in Allah and spit lightly to their left three times. It is recommended for one afflicted with waswas regarding ablution (wudu') or prayer to say: "There is no god but Allah."
