Is it permissible to eat the food of Christians, taking into consideration that they have followed a distorted path, and that Allah has declared them disbelievers in the Quran? So, are they People of the Book, or disbelievers, or astray?

Allah Almighty permitted the slaughter of the People of the Book and marriage to their women, even though He knew of their distortion of their religion. The Qur'an explicitly states the disbelief of the Jews and Christians, yet Allah permitted their slaughtered meat, provided it was not carrion or slaughtered for other than Allah, and He permitted marriage to their chaste women.
