Is a person considered a severer of kinship ties if he cuts off his sister who used to insult and humiliate him, despite his repeated advice to her and his long patience with her, and does maintaining kinship ties mean accepting humiliation and selling one's dignity?

The Sharia calls for affection and harmony, especially among kin, and urges the strengthening of family ties while forbidding their severance. If a sister wrongs you through insults and humiliation, it is advisable to be patient with her, for there is much good in patience. It is also advisable to be diligent in reconciliation and to strive for it through every legitimate means, seeking help from Allah and wise people. If reconciliation becomes impossible and the matter reaches an impasse, and you find that it is more appropriate to shun her to prevent her harm, there is no sin in that; perhaps the shunning will serve as an inspiration for her. One should not despair of striving for reconciliation, as it may happen one day.
