What is the ruling on requesting the recitation of Al-Fatiha to alleviate distress or expand sustenance, as occurs in Quran memorization centers when donations are brought?

There is no basis for what some people do, such as reciting Al-Fatihah on occasions like a marriage proposal, at the conclusion of a gathering, or after finishing a feast. This is because worship is based on divine command (Tawqeef), and there is no narration from the Prophet (peace be upon him) or from any of his companions indicating that they did such a thing. Had it been good, they would have preceded us in it. The obligation is to abandon these innovations and adhere to what has been reported in the Sunnah (definition) regarding supplications for the host and the supplication for the conclusion of a gathering.
