Is it possible for the heart of a Muslim who is far from Allah, afflicted by despair and frustration, to feel the need for his Lord and supplicate Him, and to come to Allah as he is despite his weakness and sins? And is what is said about not abandoning supplication and seeking forgiveness, even if only with the tongue, correct?

Cast your doubts and worries upon Allah, and strive to mend your heart by engaging in acts of worship and supplication, for these are among the greatest means of rectifying the heart, and not an excuse to abandon worship. The more complete the heart's share of faith and soundness, the more complete its share of feeling the pleasure of intimate communion and dependence on Allah, and tasting the sweetness of faith. Continue to strive, and trust that you will reach your goal, for "And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways." Repent from your sins and seek forgiveness, for one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. Increase your supplications, for it is the greatest weapon of the believer.
