The answer

Allah praised suppressing anger, forgiving people, and being patient with their mistakes, as He said: [and those who suppress anger and pardon people—and Allah loves the doers of good], and He said: [But if you pardon and overlook and forgive—then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful], and He said: [But whoever is patient and forgives—indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination]. However, if one cannot endure the harm caused by others or does not wish to forgive them, then he may retaliate against them and reciprocate the wrong they committed against him. Allah said: [And whoever avenges himself after he has been wronged—those have no cause for blame], and He said: [So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in like manner as he has assaulted you].
