Is a man who stopped praying for six months and then repented considered an apostate and in need of renewing his marriage contract? And what do you advise him?

The majority of scholars hold that one who abandons prayer out of negligence does not become a disbeliever thereby, and therefore is not considered an apostate. His wife remains under his marital bond, and he does not need to renew his marriage contract. According to the majority, missed prayers must be made up, which is the most cautious approach and clears one's conscience, while it is obligatory to be careful in the future not to be negligent. Seeking Allah's help in times of calamity is the solution, not abandoning prayer or committing suicide, for suicide is a greater calamity. For one who has reached sixty years of age, it is more fitting for him to renounce worldly desires and increase in righteous deeds.
