What should someone who believes she is afflicted with obsessive thoughts of envy or the evil eye do? And is saying "Masha'Allah" once sufficient if thoughts of envy and the evil eye repeatedly cross her mind? And is it permissible for her to ignore these thoughts without saying "Masha'Allah"? And will her family be harmed or die because of these thoughts? And is she sinful because of these unwanted thoughts? And should she blame herself if her family is afflicted with harm because of these thoughts?

A woman should turn away from thinking about this matter, for it increases the hold of obsessive whispers (waswas). She should occupy herself with learning, reading books of biography and stories of the predecessors (Salaf), permissible entertainment, and serving her family. It suffices her to supplicate for blessings upon her family. For whoever is pleased with something and says: "Blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. O Allah, bless it," no harm will befall him from that.
