The answer

Seeking permission (Isti'dhan) is to ask for permission to enter a house that is not your own, as Allah the Almighty commanded: "O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain intimacy and greet their people." As for the prohibition of Al-Turooq (sudden nocturnal arrival), it means a man coming to his family at night suddenly, due to what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked regarding this, and that is to enable the wife to prepare, and to cut off the path of suspicion and distrust.
