What is the ruling on giving the call to prayer (adhan) in the right ear of a newborn before tahneek (rubbing the palate with a date)? And can the mother give the adhan and perform tahneek if the father is absent? And is the shaving of the newborn's hair postponed by the postponement of the aqeeqah?

It is recommended to perform the tahneek (rubbing the palate of the newborn with a chewed date), and to recite the adhan (definition) in the right ear and the iqama in the left ear upon the child's birth. There is no required order between these acts, and the mother or someone else can perform them. As for the aqiqah (definition) (sacrificing an animal for the newborn) and shaving the hair, the Sunnah (definition) is for these to be done on the seventh day. If it is not possible, then on the fourteenth or twenty-first day, or at any time thereafter for those who were not able to do so earlier. Shaving the newborn's hair should not be delayed until after the aqiqah sacrifice; rather, it should be shaved on the seventh day, and silver equal to its weight, or its equivalent value, should be given in charity.
