The answer

The jurists define the obligatory maintenance for a woman as what suffices her needs in food, housing, and clothing. If the enquirer knows the amount of maintenance due from him, and he is able to afford it, then it is recommended for him to promptly marry her. He must marry her if he fears falling into . However, if he is unable to afford the obligatory maintenance, he must inform the woman of this. If she agrees, then it is permissible for him to marry her. Otherwise, he should not proceed with marrying her without clarification, as it would cause harm to her. The father of the children is not obligated to marry off his son at his own expense, even if he is wealthy, according to the majority of jurists. A believer should intend by his marriage the pleasure of his Lord and to protect himself from sin.
