What is the ruling on describing the Prophet, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, as the most noble of messengers, taking into consideration God's command to us not to differentiate between the messengers?
There is no dispute among scholars regarding the superiority of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, over all other prophets. The Quranic prohibition against distinguishing between the messengers means believing in some but not others, not preferring some over others in rank with Allah based on the virtues He bestowed upon them. Although the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is the best of all prophets without exception, one should avoid delving into comparisons between them for fear of diminishing any of them. It has been reported in the of the Prophet that which confirms his superiority, peace and blessings be upon him, over all creation.
