What is the ruling of Islamic law on playing cards (Kitsheena) or (Batta)?

Playing cards (Kootcheena) is forbidden if it leads to neglecting a right or hindering an obligatory act, such as prayer or obedience to parents. If it does not lead to neglecting a right or distract from an act of obedience, then it is considered a breach of muru'ah (chivalry/integrity), especially if done excessively. It is definitively forbidden if it involves compensation, as it then becomes gambling (maysir (definition)), or if it leads to enmity and hatred. A believer must safeguard their time and utilize it in what benefits them in their religious and worldly affairs.
