What are the ethics of a student of knowledge?

The status of ethics in Islam is great, and there is a strong connection between the doctrine of Tawhid (monotheism) and Islamic ethics. Students of knowledge are the foremost people to adhere to Islamic ethics. The Salaf (pious predecessors) were keen on disciplining their children, and they used to say: "Go and learn the manners of Malik before the knowledge of Malik." Among the concise and comprehensive books on the ethics of the student of knowledge are: "Hilyat Talib al-Ilm" (The Adornment of the Student of Knowledge) by العلامة Bakr Abu Zayd, and among the most important books written on the ethics of the student of knowledge is: "Tadhkirat al-Sami' wa al-Mutakallim fi Adab al-Alim wa al-Muta'allim" (A Reminder for the Listener and Speaker on the Etiquette of the Scholar and the Learner) by Ibn Jama'ah. A student of knowledge should consult the book "Al-Adab" (Etiquette) from Sahih al-Bukhari, and his book "Al-Adab al-Mufrad" (The Single Adab), and books that focused on mentioning the biographies of scholars and their ethics, such as: "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (Biographies of Noble Figures) by Al-Dhahabi and "Sifat al-Safwah" (The صفوة's صفوة) by Ibn al-Jawzi.
