Did the divorce befall the wife if she spoke to her husband after he swore to divorce her if she spoke to him again that same night, and the husband pinched her painfully with the intention of discipline after she spoke, and not with the intention of divorcing her?

If you swore by divorce that no good would come from your wife's insolence, and then you pinched her painfully with the intention of punishment, then divorce does not occur because this punishment falls under the evil that was sworn upon. The wife must be respectful towards her husband and know his rights. The husband was referred to as "sayyid" (master) in the Qur’an, and speech should be conveyed in the best manner. The wife must fulfill her husband's rights to find the sweetness of faith. However, the husband is not permitted to harm his wife with a pinch or anything else without just cause. He must fear Allah concerning her and treat her kindly, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best of you is the best to his family, and I am the best to my family."
