Is it permissible for me to abandon my Christian wife after 17 years because she has not converted to Islam, especially since we have Muslim children, and what would be the impact of such an action on the future of my children in Europe?
Guidance is solely in the hands of Allah. So, do not grieve over your wife's lack of guidance, and do not despair from inviting her (to the faith), for hearts are between the fingers of the Most Merciful. You bear no sin if you have fulfilled your duty in inviting her and she has not responded. Indeed, your duty is only to convey the message, and there is no compulsion in religion. You are not permitted to abandon her or discipline her. Be diligent in raising your children upon Islam. If you wish to separate from her, do not leave the children with her, as she might influence them. If the law does not permit you to take them, then remain with your wife and prioritize the children's best interest.
