Is it permissible for a mother to transfer ownership of the house to her daughters, to the exclusion of her sons, out of her desire to ensure the continued cohesion of the family?

Justice must be observed among children in gifts and endowments. Preferring some over others without a legitimate Islamic reason is forbidden and an injustice. Equality must be achieved by returning what was preferred to some or by completing the share of the others. Some scholars have held that justice is achieved by giving the male the same as the female, basing their argument on the hadith (definition): "Be equitable among your children in giving. If I were to prefer anyone, I would have preferred women."
