The answer

Severing ties of kinship is a grave sin and one of the major transgressions, warranting expulsion from Allah's mercy. The questioner should continue to remind his family of the seriousness of the matter and seek help from those who have influence over them, while seeking reward [from Allah] and not despairing, for reconciling people, especially kin, is among the greatest acts of devotion. It is not permissible to sever ties of kinship to please anyone, not even one's parents, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. If the questioner has severed ties of kinship, he must hasten to repent.
