What is the ruling on reciting the Quran in sections (ahzab) before and after each prayer, then prostrating in gratitude to Allah for fifteen minutes or more without a specific reason? Is this method considered an innovation (bid'ah)?

For an act of worship to be accepted, it must be performed with sincerity to Allah and in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Every innovated and newly introduced act of worship is rejected and returned to its doer, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever introduces into this affair of ours something that does not belong to it will have it rejected," and he said: "Whoever performs an action which is not in accordance with our affair will have it rejected." Adhering to prostrating without a specific reason after prayer is an innovation. Therefore, drawing closer to Allah through mere prostration is not legislated except for a specific reason, such as prostrating during prayer, or for forgetfulness (sujud sahwi), or for reciting a verse of prostration. Scholars have denounced individual prostration without a cause, emphasizing that acts of worship are based on divine legislation and adherence, not on whims and innovation. Thus, one should refrain from this innovation and strive to draw closer to Allah through what He has legislated.
