A man adopted a newborn from the hospital; should he perform the 'aqiqah for him? And thank you.

The 'aqiqah is a confirmed Sunnah for the guardian of the newborn, provided he is able to afford it, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Every boy is pledged by his 'aqiqah, which should be slaughtered for him on the seventh day, and he should be named and his head shaved." This address is directed to the guardian. The questioner is not obligated to perform the 'aqiqah for the foundling. However, if he does it voluntarily, we hope that it will suffice and be a good deed added to his fostering. And if he completes it by naming the child and shaving his head, that would be among the good deeds for which he will be rewarded.
