Removing pubic hair is recommended, not obligatory, according to the majority of scholars. If severe sensitivity prevents shaving, scissors can be used to remove excess hair to achieve the essence of the Sunnah. Removal is permissible by any method, such as depilatory cream (nura) or plucking, but shaving is the best. Imam Al-Nawawi said: "The essence of the Sunnah is achieved by removal with any remover." If removal becomes impossible by any method, shaving is waived, for "Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity." Prayer is obligatory in all circumstances and is not affected by the correctness of the hair removal.
