The answer

There is no sin upon you in limiting your interaction with your father to what does not harm you. Be keen to honor him and treat him kindly with all that you can, without harm; for honoring one's father is among the most obligatory duties, and patience in this is among the greatest means of Allah's pleasure, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The Lord's pleasure is in the parent's pleasure, and the Lord's displeasure is in the parent's displeasure," and he also said: "The parent is the middle gate of Paradise."
