The Hanbalis stipulate for the obligation of maintenance that you be poor, not possessing enough for your essential needs, and that your brothers possess more than their basic sustenance. If your income suffices for your essential needs, their obligation of maintenance ceases. If it does not suffice, then your maintenance is obligatory upon your capable brothers, male and female, each according to their share of the inheritance. Clothing and housing are like maintenance. As for your brothers assisting you to purchase a private home from the sale of a shared home, it is not obligatory upon them, though it is commendable. What is obligatory, according to the view of obligation, is for each of them to pay their share of the rent for a dwelling that is typically sufficient, only if they do not house you with them.
