The illicit relationship must be severed and repentance made from adultery, while remembering the punishment of adulterers. It is permissible to marry an adulterer after their repentance and after ensuring they are not pregnant, but it is better to seek someone of good religious commitment and character. Ridding oneself of illicit relationships is achieved by seeking refuge in Allah and associating with righteous companions. The door to repentance is always open.
