The answer

Sins are a direct cause for calamities to descend and blessings to vanish. Calamities befall a servant due to what their hands have earned, and this is out of Allah's mercy, so that the servant may become aware, return to Him, and have their evil deeds expiated. If trials descend due to sins, then they are lifted by repentance and rectitude, just as seeking forgiveness increases provision and bestows wealth and sons. If a servant desires Allah to change their condition, then they must change their condition with Allah through repentance, seeking forgiveness, having good expectations of Allah, relying on Him, adhering to His piety, and being steadfast on His Sharia.
