The question

Why do I feel a decline in my acts of worship after a period of commitment, and what is the way to return to what I was, while fearing falling under His Almighty saying: "But Allah disliked their rising, so He kept them back"?

The answer

Lethargy is something that afflicts all those who journey towards Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, for every doer there is a period of enthusiasm, and for every period of enthusiasm there is a period of lethargy." The seeker should utilize the zeal of their heart for supererogatory acts, and adhere to the obligatory duties during times of disinclination. Lethargy distinguishes the truthful from the liar. The truthful await relief and do not despair of Allah's mercy, while the liar turns back on his heels and reverts to his desires.
