Why did Allah specifically mention camels in His saying: "Do they not look at the camels—how they are created?"

Allah mentioned camels in the context of drawing attention to His magnificent creations, to prove His power and the necessity of His Oneness. Camels were singled out because they combine the characteristics of four animals: they are milk-giving, ridden, meat-providing, and burden-carrying. Thus, the blessings derived from them are more comprehensive, and the manifestation of divine power in them is more complete. Al-Qurtubi narrated from Al-Hasan (definition) Al-Basri his saying: "The Arabs were far removed in time from the elephant, and furthermore, it is a pig whose meat is not eaten, whose back is not ridden, and whose milk is not drawn." Among its characteristics is that it is docile for heavy loads, submits to a weak leader, endures thirst, its pasture is easily accessible, and it is patient with toil; therefore, it is called the "ship of the desert."
