The answer

Parents must be just among their children in giving gifts, and justice is achieved by giving the male double the female's share. However, it is permissible to single out some children for a gift in certain situations, such as extreme need, a large family, dedicating oneself to seeking knowledge, or due to his transgression or innovation if he spends money in disobedience to Allah. If the singling out is due to need, then there is no harm in it. Based on this, it is permissible for a mother to pay zakat on behalf of her son and single him out for expenses, provided his siblings agree. Otherwise, she must give his siblings the same amount she allocates to him.
