The answer

A goodly loan [qard hasan] in relation to Allah refers to good deeds by which a person seeks Allah's reward, such as charity and spending in the cause of Allah with a sincere intention. A goodly loan to people is among the good deeds for which its doer will be rewarded, and the Shariah has encouraged it. Whoever lends to a Muslim or gives him charity seeking the countenance of Allah, he has indeed given Allah a goodly loan, and Allah will reward him with good. As for a loan with interest, it is forbidden usury [riba], and its doer is at war with Allah and His Messenger.
