Who is the Martyr of the Mihrab?

This title is given by some scholars to the Commander of the Faithful, Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, because he was martyred by a stab wound from Abu Lu'lu'ah al-Majusi in the mihrab of the Prophet's Mosque while he was leading the people in the Fajr prayer. Among those who attributed this title to him was Ibn Kathir. It can also be applied to the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, as he was also martyred by a stab wound from the wretched Ibn Muljam in the mihrab of the Kufa Mosque while he was leading the people in the Fajr prayer.
