Is it permissible for a woman who has been revocably divorced by her husband to request khul' while she is still in her 'iddah?

Islam is keen on family stability and has strongly warned against a woman seeking divorce without a valid شرعي excuse. This is based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Any woman who asks her husband for a divorce without any hardship, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her." Scholars have agreed on the validity of khulʿ (divorce at the wife's instance, usually with compensation) during the waiting period (iddah (definition)) of a revocable divorce, because a revocably divorced woman is still considered to have the status of a wife, and her divorce and khulʿ are therefore valid.
