Is the saying "O Allah, bestow Your prayers upon our master Muhammad, and upon his family and companions, and grant them peace" before commencing the call to prayer (Iqamah) Sunnah?

One must learn the rulings of worship from the Sunnah before performing them, for Allah is not to be worshipped except in the way He has legislated, and any unauthorized act of worship is rejected for its doer. Among the newly invented innovations (bid'ah) is sending prayers upon the Prophet before establishing the prayer (iqamat as-salat), because this was not done during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor by his Companions. Sheikh Jamal al-Din al-Qasimi explicitly stated that it is an innovation.
