Will a Muslim be rewarded for buying plants and taking care of them, or must he plant them himself to receive the reward?

Crops and trees from which benefit is derived are considered wealth that must be preserved, and it is forbidden to destroy them through neglect. This falls under squandering wealth and destroying tillage, which is prohibited. Whoever owns valuable crops must preserve and care for them, and they will be rewarded for that with the intention of preserving wealth. The virtue of planting crops extends to the planter and the one who cultivates them, even if they die or their ownership transfers to someone else. And whoever acquires ownership of the crops and takes care of them so that their benefit continues will also have a share of the reward.
