Should I remarry to please my mother, and would not doing so be considered disobedience?

The mother's right is great, and honoring her is obligatory. However, obedience to her is restricted to what is good and lawful. Therefore, it is not obligatory to obey her in matters that involve disobedience to Allah or cause harm. If the mother orders her son to marry out of a desire to vex his wife and her family, then it is not obligatory to obey her, and the son will not be considered disobedient by not marrying a second wife, especially if he is not capable of bearing the expenses of marriage. However, if the son is capable of marriage, can ensure justice, and his marriage does not cause harm, then obeying the mother is preferable. It is advisable to strive in honoring the mother and treating her kindly, and to deal with the wife with wisdom, seeking to reconcile between the mother and the wife. Equality in educational level is not a condition for a happy marital life; rather, what matters are religion and character.
