The wife's salary is her exclusive right, and it is not permissible for the husband to take it or oblige her to spend from it except with her cheerful consent. The husband has the right to stipulate a portion of her salary in exchange for allowing her to work. The reason for the husband's obligation to provide for his wife is her confinement to the home for his right. If the husband is providing for her, it is not permissible for the wife to go out to work without his permission; otherwise, she would be considered disobedient (nashiz). She must respond to her husband for intimacy, and abstaining due to fatigue is not a legitimate excuse. If there is no explicit stipulation or custom, the husband has the right to prevent his wife from working, and it is her duty to obey him.
