What is your opinion on Islamic-Christian dialogue, what are its benefits and harms, and how can it be brought about?

Muslims are commanded to invite people to Allah and propagate Islam. This necessitates holding dialogue sessions to present Islam and refute what contradicts it. The benefits of such sessions include: guiding the invitee, establishing proof against them, enabling the Muslim to fulfill Allah's command, or bringing disbelievers to a neutral stance.

However, potential harms may arise if these discussions are undertaken by unqualified individuals or presented to the general public. These harms include: distorting the beauty of Islam, causing tribulation for some Muslims, the failure of the debater, or involving misguided individuals who believe in the equality of religions, which could mislead Christians and turn them away from the truth.

Therefore, these dialogues should be limited to well-grounded scholars, and overseen by scholarly da'wah institutions that select appropriate individuals. Every Muslim who is knowledgeable and familiar with the Christian faith should not miss an opportunity to engage in da'wah and dialogue.
