The answer

The concept of Al-Wala' wal-Bara' (loyalty and disavowal) must be established in the hearts, meaning love for believers and supporting them, and disavowal of those who oppose Allah and His Messenger. Loyalty to Allah, His Messenger, and the believers is among the pillars of a Muslim's character, just as not showing loyalty to disbelievers is an essential pillar. Many verses have affirmed this meaning, such as the Almighty's saying: "And the believing men and believing women are allies of one another," and His saying: "Let not believers take disbelievers as allies instead of believers." And as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A believer to another believer is like a solid structure, one part supporting the other," and: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor does he abandon him, nor does he despise him."
