What is the secret behind the alif in "yaʿfū" (وَيَعْفُوا) in His, Exalted be He, saying: {And He is the One who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons sins, and knows what you do} (Ash-Shura 25), and what is its interpretation?

The spelling of the Holy Quran is a sunnah (definition) that has been followed and a divinely ordained matter (tawqifi) from the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, by his companions. It must be adhered to and not contravened in consideration of modern spelling rules. Therefore, the word "يعفوا" (ya'fuwa) in the verse is written with an alif as it is in the Noble Mushaf (definition) due to divine wisdom, because the writing of the Quran is part of its miraculous nature. This is further supported by the presence of words like "جاءوا" (ja'u) and "فاءوا" (fa'u) without an alif, which indicates that the spelling of the Quran is divinely ordained and not subject to spelling rules.
